Functional Fat Loss is a unique system of exercise programming developed by Odyssey Owner Dave Fletcher. Functional Fat Loss provides the back bone to all of our weight and fat loss programmes for our male and female clients. This results driven system of exercise programming has allowed the Odyssey team to achieve outstanding body shape and weight loss results with all of our clients (some of which include premiership footballers, professional cricketers and models).

Functional Fat Loss is a circuit based approach to exercise which challenges your body from several different angles. Not only is this the quickest way to drop body fat, lose weight and change your shape whilst exercising, you can also expect to improve muscle tone, core strength and muscular strength. Functional Fat Loss training is very different to your average circuit class in your local health club. The intensity of each exercise is much higher which is why you can expect far better results. The circuits comprise of exercises using dumbbells, swiss balls, medicine balls, boxing, short sprints (if outdoors) and resistance band training.

A little bit of science about how Functional Fat Loss Training strips fat…

Most people aiming to lose body fat go about it by running more or doing a regular circuit class. Both of which may well be a good introduction to the new leaner and healthier you, however it won’t take long for your body to adapt to this low intensity exercise and you will reach a plateaux with your results. Functional Fat Loss circuits is the next level up and is suitable for any man or woman with an existing base level of fitness. You don’t have to be an Olympic athlete but some experience with exercise is a must!

Sports science has taught us that to increase the rate inwhich your body can burn fat; you need a combination of cardiovascular exercise and weight training. Remember, our muscles are our body’s most valuable asset when it comes to burning fat (the more muscle we have, the more calories we burn). This means that it is an absolute must that weight training is included within your weight loss/fat loss programme (…and yes ladies, that includes you too!) A lack of weight training is usually the reason why men and women struggle to take it to the next step with their results.

Functional Fat Loss is the perfect mix of weight training and cardiovascular exercise culminated together into a circuit. This mix of intensities within the exercises is the reason why you can expect such dramatic fat loss results. Unlike running or low intensity cardio; you will target all 3 types of muscle fibre in your body which will have a far more powerful fat loss, endurance and core strength effect.
